NFPA 1: Fire Code
NFPA 1: Fire Code (NFPA 1), addresses minimum requirements for building construction, operation, and maintenance, fire department access, and hazardous materials necessary to establish a reasonable level of fire safety and property protection in new and existing buildings.
NFPA 1 provides fire code officials with a comprehensive package of criteria to ensure public safety on a routine basis. ∙
NFPA 1 draws many of its requirements from some 57 other NFPA codes and standards, giving fire code officials the critical needed requirements, in one place, when conducting reviews and inspections of new and existing buildings and facilities. Other requirements unique to NFPA 1 include those addressing fire department access, required fire flow, and fire hydrants.
NFPA 1 can be used in conjunction with NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, NFPA 5000, Building Construction and Safety Code, as well as other model building codes. Shares NFPA’s commitment to both the users of our codes, as well as to the communities in which our codes are used.
